Do You Know the Penalties for Including Prohibited Items?
Sometimes, individuals tend to place prohibited items inside their shipment.
Today, we’d like to discuss the consequences of including prohibited items in your luggage.
Some may believe that sneaking a prohibited item into their baggage won’t be detected.
However, this is a misconception, and the stakes are significant.
Allow us to clarify why we hold this view.
Now, these boxes are transported by air and undergo scanning. During this process, items such as batteries and perfumes, which are prohibited, are often detected, resulting in fines. ( You can get the list of prohibited items here.)
Many claim that prohibited items were mistakenly, deliberately, unknowingly, or inadvertently placed in the box. They might attribute this to various factors, such as their mother-in-law or unknown individuals.
However, authorities won’t listen to all these excuses.
The ramifications of detecting prohibited items can be substantial.
- It will lead to an instant airport screening and removal fine from between $350 to $550.
- Prohibited or restricted items may have different outcomes, including destruction, non-collection, delays, or returns.
- If a prohibited/restricted item is collected, there are no refunds for shipping, and return charges apply. If damaged, we may dispose of it; insurance doesn’t cover these items, even if you bought coverage.
- Furthermore, the sender must cover any damages to other shipments or property resulting from a prohibited or restricted item during transit.
- When placing an order, you must confirm that you’ve read the list of prohibited and restricted items and the terms and conditions by ticking a checkbox.
If you’re unsure about any items, please let us know. We can inspect and apply a small fee for this service. This fee might be $50 for the first box and $20 for each additional box, for example.
This way, you can steer clear of fines and any negative consequences.
